WHO WE ARE – ABOUT IES & IESC
Our Idea
The International Ethics Standards Coalition is the result of a number of organisations from around the world coming together to produce, for the first time, a set of shared high-level ethical principles for those operating in the land, property, construction, infrastructure and related professions.
Starting with a meeting at the United Nations in New York in 2014, the coalition agreed to create one shared standard to help ensure higher levels of global professionalism for fostering consistency.
Our Aim
The objective is for IES to become a key factor in market confidence and transparency, leading to conditions that will stimulate investment and growth.
Our Work
We recognise that as markets change and grow, so must out approach to developing and reinforcing professional ethics. The International Ethics Standards therefore serve as an anchor to appropriate behaviours. These help to ensure consistency and clarity irrespective of changing factors such as the state of the economy or business practices in different markets.
Our Coalition
From the original group of sixteen organisations, the coalition has grown to over 130 based around the globe.
Membership is open to any not-for-profit organisation that represents practitioners in related fields.
Entities that do not meet the criteria to become a coalition member, but who wish to voice their support can become Supporters of IES, divided into Business, Academic and Government.
Our Standard
The coalition accepts that standard setting is a continuous and dynamic process and the latest version of IES was published in May 2021
